2024
Start at the bottom of the blog and read up to read the year in chronological order.
December 25, 2024 - Merry Christmas
We enjoyed a quiet Christmas with just the two of us at home this year. Joy to the world!
Thanks to Robert Brown for the use of his beautiful car for our 2024 Christmas picture. Robert is the brother of our sister-in-law Anita.
December 12, 2024 - Silver Moon
When we were growing up in Comanche, Oklahoma a native-American artist lived just down the street from us. He used the name Silver Moon. He did not drive and rode the bus all across the nation selling his art. We would often see him walking by the house with art work and supplies under his arms. I graduated high school with one of his daughters. I have always admired his art but it has been too expensive for me to own. Some pictures sell for up to $1000. A couple years ago I found an affordable picture on Facebook Marketplace and bought it. This year I found someone selling two original Silver Moon's. I purchased them both for less than $100. What a wonderful Christmas present to me. Here is my favorite.
December 9, 2024 - Brazos Valley
We always look forward to returning to Brazos Valley Family Worship Center in Bryan, Texas. Pastor Juanita Withem and her good people are always so kind to us. The church has been supporting our crusades for more than a decade.
December 5, 2024 - Oklahoma Evangelists
Every year Dr Darryl Wootten hosts the OKAG evangelists for a Christmas luncheon. This is one of our favorite events of the year. Thank you Dr. D for supporting the office of the evangelist.
November 24, 2024 - Okie from Muskogee
While we were at the RVers Convention we met Pastor Lonnie Orman from New Life AG in Fort Gibson, OK. Pastor Orman invited us to minister for him and we really enjoyed ourselves. The congregation is building a new building in nearby Muskogee.
November 23, 2024 - AG Evangelist Conference
Every year we enjoy meeting together with fellow Assemblies of God evangelists for a time of fellowship and refreshing. This year was special, Jeri Hill received an award for her and Steve's service to the AG and the kingdom. It was well deserved.
November 12, 2024 - Our first trip to Guinea
Nothing about our trip to Guinea was easy. In this photo we are standing on the campaign grounds. You can see a Moslem mosque behind us. The country is 92% Moslem and you can feel that in the atmosphere. We still had a good campaign with over 1200 registered salvations.
I've been everywhere and I have never seen roads like in Guinea. We ended up with nearly 30 hours on bad roads. Once the car stopped running out in the jungle in the middle of the night. Another time we were stuck in the mud. If some young men hadn't helped us we would still be there and still stuck.
We had to fly into Monrovia, Liberia and drive to Guinea. At the border we had to go through check point after check point. On the way back to Liberia our driver only took us part of the way and we were left to walk a great distance with all our luggage. I had a blister almost as big as a half dollar. The one bright spot of the day was when I showed the border agents Lynda's passport (it was her birthday) and they all broke out in "Happy Birthday." It was certainly a birthday she will remember.
November 5, 2024 - Zurich
As we are getting older, we find it is easier to break up our long flights with long layovers that give us a chance to get a hotel room and rest. On the way to Guinea we stopped in Zurich, Switzerland for a night. Since Lynda had never seen Zurich we took a short but enjoyable tour of the city.
November 4, 2024 - Wembledon
One of my former students, Jon Featherstone, pastors the Elim Church in Wembledon. What a great church and what a great pastor. We always enjoy preaching for Jon and his amazing congregation.
November 2, 2024 - The Tower of Big Ben
We were only home a few days before we took off for our mission to Guinea, West Africa. Our first stop was London. Lynda enjoyed a great (cold and wet) tour on a open-top bus. I took refuge below.
October 16, 2024 - Noddaway
We also stopped by Noddaway Valley Christian Fellowship on our way home. They trusted us for a service even though I had COVID the last time we passed through. We love this little church. They have a pot-luck dinner every Sunday and Sunday night.
October 12, 2024 - Mr. Cash
On the way home from Illinois we stopped in Dewitt to see Summer, Quenten and Cash. There is never enough grandbaby time.
October 9, 2024 - Arkansas and Illinois
I preached six times in 4 days. Weekend revival at Way of the Cross Church in Kennsett, Arkansas and the MAPS RVer's National Convention in Carlonville, Illinois. The RVers are among the sweetest people on earth. We are so blessed.
September 27, 2024 - Grammy's Blessings
Since we were going to be in Africa on Lynda's birthday she got her present early. I had this figurine made from a photo of her and her grandchildren. She was quite surprised.
September 25, 2024 - Lawton America
We had a blessed week at Calvary Assembly of God in Lawton, OK. Byron Elmore is the pastor and a good friend. Byron is also the Senior Adult Rep for our part of Oklahoma. On Monday night we had a Senior Adult Rally for all the region. Several churches participated.
September 18, 2024 - Aimee's childhood home.
We moved westward in Ontario and visited the cities where Aimee was born, where she went to school and where she and Robert Semple held one of their first meetings. We studied in libraries, archives and museums. I believe we are going to have a great book.
September 11, 2024 - Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada
Lynda and I flew Toronto to gather information for my biography of Aimee Semple McPherson. Our work started at the archives of the PAOC. We appreciated the gracious welcome.
September 9, 2024 - Boomer Sooner
On Sunday we were at Ignite Church in Norman, OK. Thank you Pastor Rodney Hutchenson. This is a church plant in home of the University of Oklahoma. We were glad to be a blessing! I love what God let's me do!
September 4, 2024 - At the Cross
What a wonderful Sunday at Church of the Cross in Haughton, LA. Lives were changed! To God be the glory! Thank you Pastor Jeff Gravis for leading this great Pentecostal church and thanks for your friendship.
August 28, 2024 - Cash
Summer, Quenten and Cash finally got to come to Oklahoma to visit. It was wonderful to have some Papaw time. I said on Facebook I have been blessed to be a lot of places but none are better than this.
August 12 , 2024 - Marlow, OK
Pastor Elwyn Rogers at Marlow First Assembly of God asked us to be part of their annual missions emphasis. We always enjoy being with the Rogers and their good people and especially enjoyed a lovely dinner. Hard to believe but I have been preaching in this church for fifty-five years.
August 8, 2024 - shhhhh!
Don't tell anyone but I turned 72 years old today. It has been a wonderful adventure!
July 27, 2024 - On the road again - a lot.
Our Ram van rolled over 200,000 miles. We bought the car a few weeks after we were married so in some ways it reflects how many miles we have traveled together. Including road miles in Lynda's car and air miles we have traveled more than a half million miles in eight wonderful years.
July 25, 2024 - Welcome Andrew Arthur
Lynda got a new grandbaby--Andrew Arthur Goetz. Proud Grammie now has four precious grands.
July 8, 2024 - Tennessee friends
We also like to come to Nashville to see some of our dearest friends. We were able to spend time with Marvin and Gracie Wilson, Michael and Tanya Sykes and Lindell and Amber Cooley.
July 5, 2024 - Nashville, TX
Lynda and I were engaged in Nashville and we love to return to Music City, especially for the 4th of July. They have the greatest fireworks display in the nation. You have to see it to believe it. We love America and love to celebrate Independence Day!
Did I mention that July 3rd was our eighth wedding anniversary?
June 30, 2024 - Casey, IL
I have been coming to Casey almost every year for revival for nearly two decades. Pastors Ken and April Wade are such good friends. Ken was one of my students at BRSM. Casey is known as the little city with big things. They have many Guinness Book of Record items that are built by a local businessman. Lynda and I got caught in the world's largest mouse trap. We actually got caught in a love trap eight years ago.
June 15, 2024 - My Seymour Biography
My new biography of William J Seymour was released in February. I have received a lot of good reviews. Here is a sample:
I just got my personalized copy of Larry Martin's expanded biography of William J. Seymour, the leader of the Azusa Street Revival. I had a chance to read through some of it. In addition to the superb research and writing, Martin has included a number of outstanding photographs and historical items. If you love revivals and Pentecostal history, this is the book for you. If you order directly from Larry, he will even autograph one for you.
JDK
Another incredible book by Larry Martin I highly recommend. He has written another book on Charles Parham that is also a great read. I have just started this book, but it is amazing. A must read for anyone hungry for revival!

June 3, 2024 - Katy, TX
It was good to back in the Houston area and back with our friends at Family Life Assemblies of God (FLAG). Pastors Al and Rebecca Cortez were our pastors when we lived in Richmond. We love them and this great church. FLAG supports our missions work every month and Pastor Al took a missionary offering for us. We are deeply grateful.
May 30, 2024 - What a Happy Time
We went to Ft Worth for a gospel concert at the Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium. We enjoyed all the talent but actually went to see our friends in Goodman revival. More than fifty years ago as a teenager I would come to the same venue to see the original Happy Goodman Family. My time flies!
May 20, 2024 - A Welcome Guest
Glenn Gohr, my favorite archivist was in Oklahoma for a family reunion and Lynda and I were able to welcome him as our guest.
May 20, 2024 - Henryetta, OK
Pentecost Sunday is one of our best Sunday's of the year. This year we were blessed to be with Pastor Cordel Hines at New Life Assembly in Henryetta, OK. It was a good day as we celebrated the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
May 12, 2024 - A Great Gift
When Evangelist Tim Enloe learned I was writing a biography of Aimee Semple McPherson he sent me three of her periodicals. These beautiful magazines are almost 100 years old. Tim is the national AG evangelist rep. He has been a great supporter of our ministry and especially my writing. I am blessed to have some great friends.
May 1 , 2024 - Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center
Obviously I couldn't spend a week in Springfield without doing some research at the Assemblies of God archives. As always, my dear friend Glenn Gohr was most helpful in finding materials for me.
April 30, 2024 - Influence
George Paul Wood asked me for an interview on my Seymour book. It was broadcast on the web as part of his Influence Podcast. George Paul is the son of the late General Superintendent George Wood. He is also the executive editor of Assemblies of God Publications. I had never met George but enjoyed my time with him.
April 29, 2024 - Prayer Center
The last few weeks feel like a whirlwind with all the driving I've done. Lynda sat out most of these long-haul trips because riding hundreds of miles to spend days just sitting in a hotel room while I do research is just no fun. She opted instead to spend some time with her grandbabies. Who can blame her?
I left Mauriceville and drove straight to Springfield, Missouri for a week of prayer for revival at the Assemblies of God National Prayer Center. Thank you Joe Oden for the invitation to take part in this great week.
April 28, 2024 - Mauriceville, TX
After ten days out west I headed south for a Sunday at MAG church in Mauriceville. This is a great church with conservative values and a contemporary atmosphere. Pastor J R Armstrong is going with us to Africa in the Fall.
April 22, 2024 - Bakersfield
Before starting the long journey home I drove up to the town that Buck Owens made famous. Too me it is more famous for my friends at New Covenant Pentecostal Church of God. I love this church! Thanks Pastor Doyle Hawkins for making us feel so much at home. Thanks also for that spectacular Sunday lunch. If you are ever in Bakersfield, don't skip Hodel's Country Dining.
April 21, 2024 - Azusa Street
Of course I couldn't visit LA without spending time at Azusa Street and Bonnie Brae. Sis Sol that manages the Bonnie Brae house is a dear friend who is always most gracious to me. I am blessed each time I see this precious prayer warrior.
April 20, 2024 - Los Angeles
For most of a week I studied at the public library in Los Angeles. In addition to dozens of interesting book in their stacks they also had some files on Aimee and Angelus Temple. It was a very successful week. My notebooks on Sister McPherson are growing.
April 15, 2024 - Porterville, CA
Back in the 1990s I preached several times at Landmark Christian Center in Porterville with Pastor Paulette Blaylock. Once I shared the pulpit with John Kilpatrick in a revival/campmeeting. Those were sweet days. It was good to be back with Sister Paulette and her good people.
April 13, 2024 - Fuller Theological Seminary
One of the goals of my trip was to spend time in the archives at the library of Fuller Theological Seminary. They held a good deal of information on Aimee.
While there, I was able to have dinner with Dr and Mrs Mel Robeck. Mel spent many decades teaching at Fuller. He is also a premier Azusa Street historian. With the close proximity to Los Angeles, Mel has been able to do more research than any other Azusa scholar. I have used much of his research as a stepping stone to my own. We had met before, but it was great to break bread together.
April 10, 2024 - Sticker Shock
I drove to California to do some research on Aimee Semple McPherson for my biography and preach at a couple great churches. My first stop in the Golden State was at a gas station. I'm still in shock!
April 2, 2024 - Why God Used D L Moody
Sometime ago I sold out of my little Moody book. I have rearranged it and made it available on Amazon. You can get a print edition or an e-book. Be sure and look for this cover to find my book with the additions of Moody's sermons and a short bio.
March 30, 2024 - Camp Meeting
On our way back to Oklahoma we stopped in Baton Rouge for the Easter Camp Meeting. We love this event and try to go every years. It was great to fellowship with our friend, Dr. Don Paul Gray.
March 24, 2024 - Foley, Al
We drove to the Alabama coast to minister at Family Revival Center. Pastors Tommy and Samantha Howard are such dear friends. This church has been supporting our missions longer than any other church. We are so very grateful.
The Howard's two son are both in the Coast Guard and in the National Honor Guard. Wyatt has been a pall bearer for Dianne Feinstein and Rosalynn Carter. I watched these two boys grow up and I am so proud of them.
March 11, 2024 - Aimee
When we are home, I have so much to do-bookkeeping, newsletters, correspondence and so much more. My main project, however, is working on the new biography of Aimee Semple McPherson.
March 2, 2024 -COVID
On our way home from Africa I was exposed to COVID. This was my third time to have this awful stuff. Unfortunately we stopped in DeWitt and gave the virus to Summer and Quenten. We also stopped in Braddyville for another service. I had no idea I had COVID but I knew I was sick so I kept a distance from the church folk. Thank God, no one in Braddyville caught the awful plague.
I was pretty sick all the way home and I was blessed to have Lynda with me so I didn't have to drive. I was in bed a couple days at home but was soon on the road to recovery.
February 21, 2024 - Ethiopia - Harvest Revival Crusade
From Malawi we flew to Addis Ababa for first 2024 Crusade. There were a lot of challenges in Daya Bensa, but God moved in a powerful way. Thank you for sponsoring this great campaign.
February 11, 2024 - Malawi
Our first missionary adventure of 2024 was in the nation of Malawi. This was our first trip to this great nation. We had a powerful Pastor's conference. God blessed.
February 6, 2024 - Baby time
We got inexpensive Africa tickets by flying out of Chicago. This gave us the opportunity to stop in DeWitt, IA and have some time with Summer, Quenten and of course, baby Cash.
February 5, 2024 - Braddyville, IA
The tiny village of Braddyville welcomed us at Nodaway Valley Christian Center. What a precious group of saints.
January 30, 2024 - Home
There is nothing more enjoyable than sleeping in our own bed and preaching on Sunday. Thanks to Pastor Ron Meador for the opportunity to minister again at Bethel Church in Duncan.
January 15, 2024 - Wiliam J Seymour
While were in Texas the first copies of my new William Seymour book arrived at our home. My brother, Dan, stopped by and put the books inside. We don't know what we would do without Danny and his wife, Anita. They take care of so many things for us while we are on the road.
The new book is an edited, enlarged edition of the book I wrote twenty years ago. This new edition is published by Whitaker Books and has about thirty percent more material. You can order your copy through our online bookstore.
January 14, 2024 - Centerville, TX
It was wonderful to be back with our friends at Chapel of the Hills in Centerville, TX. Pastor Gary Stutz was a BRSM student and the church definitely has the DNA of revival. We had planned to stay over and go to Houston on Tuesday after the services but an ice storm was headed that way and we left immediately after the PM services, trying to beat the weather. We did have some freezing rain and snow but thanks be to God we made it home safe.
January 12, 2024 - Acts 6:4
Attending the Acts 6:4 Conference in Texarkana, TX has become a new year tradition for Lynda and I. For several years we have set up our resource table and promote River of Revival and Christian Life Books. The conference never fails. We fellowship with new and old friends and enjoy some of the greatest music and Pentecostal preaching in the country. Our friends, Jason and Tosha Stidham host the conference and do and excellent job. We recommend Acts 6:4 to all our friends.
January 7 , 2024 - Seiling, Oklahoma
Our first services of the year were at Restoration church in Seiling, OK. This was our first time in Seiling and we enjoyed a great time of fellowship with the good people of Restoration chuch. You know it is going to be a good Sunday when the church serves biscuits and gravy for breakfast.
January 1, 2024
We drove back from Bryan, TX on Sunday afternoon, December 31, after enjoying a good service at Brazos Valley Family Worship Center. We got back to Duncan late but enjoyed a quiet, restful New Years Day at home. We love to travel, but the older we get the more we love being home.
