December 26, 2022 - Even More and More Christmas
On Christmas day we attended service at our home church. We could not imagine not going to church on Christmas Day. I am thankful our pastor kept the doors open for us.
Lynda and I spent the rest of the day alone and enjoyed a wonderful quiet day remembering our Savior's birth.
We finished 2022 at home in Duncan, thanking God for a blessed year just passed and the prospects of the new year coming.
December 13 , 2022 - Even More Christmas
If three Christmas celebrations were not enough we drove to Houston and enjoyed Christmas with Lynda's family. The grands look quite dapper in the jammies from grammy.
December 12 , 2022 - Back to Brazos
For years we have been going to Brazos Valley FWC at least twice a year. It is always a pleasure to be with the Withem family and their wonderful people.
December 7 , 2022 - More Christmas
Our new Oklahoma District Superintendent invited a group of Oklahoma evangelists to a wonderful Christmas reception. It was great to be among friends.
On the same evening we attended our Section 10 Christmas dinner. We felt abundantly celebrated. In the center of the photo is our long-time friend Joy Kerley. Joy is a young 90 years old and still traveling extensively preaching the good news.
December 3, 2022 - The Fellowship Christmas
I am ordained by the Assemblies of God, but our ministry is under the covering of The Fellowship. It was a joy to attend The Fellowship Christmas gathering and share some time with the men and women of this great organization.
November 29, 2022 - Bethel
We are always so happy to preach in our home church. Pastor Ron Meador is always os gracious to us. God moved powerfully in the altars on Sunday night.
November 26, 2022 - The Bionic Man
It seems that two bouts with COVID damaged my heart. My heart rate has been low and I have been having episodes of Afib. On November 10th I had a pacemaker implanted. On the day before Thanksgiving I received a Watchman, a simple devise placed in the heart to prevent blood clots. For a few days I didn't know if all this was going to speed me up or slow me down. By now, however, I am feeling stronger. I should have more strength and more years to proclaim this glorious gospel to our lost and dying world.
Fifty-six year on the gospel road and the best is yet to come! Thank you, Jesus.
November 17, 2022 - Elgin, Oklahoma
We held a four day revival for Pastor Larry Thoma at First Assembly of God in Elgin, Oklahoma. We love revivals close to home. God moved among us. People were saved and baptized in the Holy Ghost. To God be the glory!
November 12, 2022 - Happy Birthday, Lynda
Well, well, well, I was not the only one that had a big birthday in 2022. Lynda turned 70 on November 11 and we celebrated her big day on the 12th. I don't know how I pulled it off, but she was completely surprised. Her kids came from Houston, my family showed up, dozens greeted her on zoom and our house was more than full of friends. It was a wonderful day for a wonderful companion.
October 28, 2022 - A Disappointment
Our team was supposed to leave today for Brazil. Unfortunately, with so many issues with the Brazilian election our team in Brazil decided we should postpone the meeting. We will go in 2023 but it was very disappointing to have to change our plans at the last minute.
When I am at home in Duncan there is always plenty to keep me busy. With some help from Lynda, I do all the secretarial work and bookkeeping for the ministry. I am also writing when I can and work on Pentecostal Gold almost every day. I passed a goal of 3500 sermons on the site. Can you believe over 100 people each day listen to sermons on Pentecostal Gold. If you are not taking advantage of this goldmine, you should try it. Click Here.
October 24, 2022 - Amelia, Ohio
On our way home we stopped in Amelia, Ohio to preach at Mt Holly Christian Church. It was so good to see my life-long friend Lary Goss. Lary has some health issues, please continue to pray for him.
October 22, 2022 - Books in process and in print
We drove down into Rhode Island and then traveled to New Haven, Connecticut where I spent a day studying at Yale University Library. The research for the Durham book is coming together. I have written one chapter but hope to finish more before the end of the year.
We also stopped at Whitaker Publishing House in New Kennsington, Pennsylvania to pick up some of our Parham books. It was such an honor to see our new book among the hundreds of wonderful books that Whitaker publishes.
October 19, 2022 - Northpoint Bible College
I spoke at the chapel of Northpoint in Haverhill, Massachusetts for two days. It was great to minister to this student body of future workers for God's harvest fields. We packaged a gift bag with several of our books for each of the students and workers. Thank God for the privilege to sow a small seed.
One reason we wanted to travel to New England in the fall was to see the beautiful foliage. Nature did not disappoint. We drove into Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
October 17, 2022 - New York, New York
New York City is an incredible place. I cannot say it is my favorite city, but it is still breathtaking-especially when I was driving through downtown Manhattan at night and in the rain. Thank God we made it.
We preached a revival at a United Methodist Church in Brooklyn. My friend from Poland, Dr. Kamil Halambiec is the pastor. We enjoy a real refreshing in the Holy Spirit.
October 13, 2022 - Niagara Falls
Since we have been married, we have been planning to make a trip to the Northeast in the Fall. This was the perfect year for it. Lynda had never seen Niagara Falls so our first stop was a the beautiful Niagara.
I posted a story on Facebook about losing Lynda's luggage at Niagara. A lot of people got a good laugh from my pain. You can look for the story in my next edition of "The Good, the Bad, the Ugly and the Hilarious."
September 30, 2022 - Greece
While in Europe, we wanted to visit some historic Biblical sites. In Greece we toured Athens, Corinth and Thessalonica. It was great to walk where the Apostles walked.
Since we had already traveled by plane, train and automobile we needed a boat ride. We took a ferry to Patmos. For the first time in my life I stood where John received the Revelation of Jesus Christ. With John, I pray even so come Lord Jesus.
September 25, 2022 - ACE
We were so blessed to travel to Istanbul and meet with our friends in the Association of Campaign Evangelists. These men and women are doing a tremendous job of reaching the lost. I was privileged to speak twice to the group while we gathered at the Hagia Sophia. For centuries it was the largest church in the world. Today it is a Moslem mosque.
September 22, 2022 - Romania
In September we preached for the first time in Romania. It was a blessing to be with these precious people who had suffered so much under communism. Pastor Orosz Zoltán was a great host.
Since we have never been in this part of Europe, we flew from Athens to Cluj, Romania and then rode the train through Bulgaria. Then we rode busses through Macedonia and Greece. It was tiring but we saw some beautiful places we may never get to visit again.
September 1, 2022 - Marlow, OK
Lynda and I ministered in Marlow, OK at First Assembly of God for four day in late August. Pastor Elwyn Rogers asked me to teach on evangelism. We always enjoy the Rogers and the good people in Marlow. Plus it is only 10 miles from home and we get to sleep in our own bed.
August 25, 2022 - Minnesota and Iowa
God opened the door for me to minister in Albert Lea, Minnesota. It is always a blessing to be with Pastor Ryan Quigley and his wonderful family. The church was celebrating its 80th year of ministry to Albert Lea.
I also took the opportunity to do quite a lot of research on my William H Durham book. Durham lived a number of years in Tracy, MN. I visited the state archives in Minneapolis and Tracy and Windom where Durham ministered. On the way home I stopped at the Iowa State Library in Des Moines and in Shennandoah, IA where Durham was ordained. I searched microfilms, newspapers, libraries, cemeteries and historical societies. I love history.
While researching at the archives in Iowa I found this amazing illustration in a hundred-twenty-year-old periodical. It is why we do missions!
August 15, 2022 - GrandKiddos
We were happy to have Lynda's son Ryan and his family drop by for a couple days. We took the grands to Duncan's Kiddieland where they had a swell time. Just a few decades ago our kids were riding on the same rides.
August 8, 2022 - 70 Years Old
How did this happen. Today I am 70 years old. I have written some reflections on being old. You can read them by clicking here.
August 6, 2022 - Home Sweet Home
There was a time I felt I had to preach every single week. I still love to preach but a week off is no longer traumatic. In fact, it is quite pleasant. Lynda and I were both exhausted from our long drives to Texas, North Carolina and Illinois and really needed some stay at home time to rest and catch up on office work. Don't misunderstand, we are always ready to go again.
July 22, 2022 - Casey, IL
Every year, we minister at Word of Life Church in Casey, IL. It is called the Little Town with Big Things. One thing that is especially big is the hearts of Pastors Ken and April Wade. We always have a great time in Casey.
June 17, 2022 - The Colonel
We passed through Corbin, Kentucky and visited the original home of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Original recipe KFC is probably my favorite chicken and trust me I have eaten a lot of fried chicken!
If you wonder why I post a lot of pictures of Lynda eating, it is because we eat a lot. In fact, we try to eat at least once or twice every single day.
Did you know that Colonel Sanders was saved at an Assemblies of God Church?
July 16, 2022 - More Durham
I took advantage of the time in Chicago to spend time at the library looking for more information for my book on William H. Durham. Most of his ministry was in Chicago.
July 14, 2022 - The Windy City
River of Revival Ministries is under the covering of a group called The Fellowship. It has been many years since I attended one of their conferences but Lynda and I decided to join them in Chicago this summer. We had a good time meeting new people and a handful we knew from the past. This was their 60th anniversary celebration. The group was started by Gordon Lindsey as a home for Pentecostal ministers from the faith healing era. Our prayer is that God will continue to bless The Fellowship.
Lynda had never had real Chicago deep dish pizza pie so of course we had to try some!
July 11, 2022 - Katy, Texas
What a joy to be back at Family Life Assembly of God in Katy, TX. FLAG was our home church when we lived in Houston. Pastor Albert Cortez is such a great host and pastors such a great church. It felt like coming home.
Lynda was too road weary to drive to Texas so I drove down by myself, drove home after the morning service and we left the next morning for Chicago. Oh, the life of an evangelist!
July 5, 2022 - Troup, Texas
We had never been in Troup, Texas but we had a very good time. We were there for both Independence day and our sixth anniversary. Pastor Tracy Wright was a great host and we enjoyed a cook-out with the church members on the fourth.
Pastor Tracy is helping me digitalize sermons for Pentecostal Gold. Thank you!
June 30, 2022 - Charles Fox Parham
We were home only two days when we headed back to Texas. Fortunately we were home long enough to get my new book. Seeing a new book is something like having a new baby but without the pain. Well, after years of work maybe some of the pain.
June 26, 2022 - Reidsville, NC
We were back in North Carolina for a Sunday at Pleasant View AG in Reidsville. Pastor Gary Loftis was so kind to us. James and Susan Dodd drove over to join us for lunch.
Brother Loftis's wife is a sister to Janet Paschal and Janet is a member of the church.
June 24, 2022 - Chili 5-Way
I never miss a chance to feed my girl in unique places. Since she had never tried Skyline Chili we had to stop and enjoy a bowl of their famous chili. Yes, she ate it all. No, the bowl is not as large as it appears in the photo.
June 24, 2022 - Asbury
I spent a day at Asbury Theological Seminary. Doing what? Researching William Durham, of course. They have some periodicals that are not located anywhere else. The staff there was most gracious to me.
The seminary is named after Francis Asbury the great Methodist leader. He would spin in his grave if he saw what the Methodist Church has become.
June 23, 2022 - Noah's Ark
Since we were in the neighborhood on a whim we decided to visit the Ark Encounter. It was a great experience--so much more than we expected. If you can get any where close do not miss the opportunity to see the ark. The gospel is presented so clearly, in so many ways and so many times. First class!!
June 21, 2022 - Beautiful Blue Grass
Between weekends, we drove to Kentucky to further my research on William Durham. Durham was born and reared in Brodhead, Kentucky. His life is much more obscure than Charles Parham's but I am digging deep to finish a comprehensive biography.
June 13, 2022 - Archdale, NC
James connected with me with some of his friends in North Carolina and we were blessed to preach for them. Pastor Phillip Biggs opened a door for us at Spirit Life Ministries. We enjoyed the hospitality and good Spirit in the church.
June 13, 2022 - 50 years
Our dear, life-long friends James and Susan Dodd celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. We drove to North Carolina to be with them for the reception held by their kids. We love the Dodds
May 27, 2022 - My Fellow Evangelists
We had only a few hours at home from Brazil when we headed to Springfield for the annual AG evangelist summit. It is always good to connect with our brethren and sisters of the "My Suitcase Is My Home" group.
The Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center had created a display honoring evangelists. My friend Glenn Gohr is standing before a display of Nicky Cruz. We were so honored to get to meet Nicky at the summit.
May 25, 2022 - Wow!
What a great campaign we had in Buriticupu. 3000 were saved and there were a number of testimonies of healing. Thank you for supporting us in this great work.
May 20 , 2022 - East Meets West
On Friday morning of the crusade week we take food to a poor neighborhood and do personal evangelism. Several people are always won to Christ. In the home, Mama was cooking armadillo. We didn't ask if it was road kill. She offered to share her meager meal with us but we were inclined to decline. That's not to say I haven't eaten the crusted critter.
May 19, 2022 - Happy Anniversary
John and Gina Sullivan from Katy, TX have helped us with many of our campaigns. They happened to be in Buriticupu for their wedding anniversary. The good people of Brazil got word of it and gave them a cake. Happy anniversary John and Gina and many, many more.
May 19, 2022 - Workers Conference
Our campaigns in Brazil always start with a workers conference. Important information about the campaign is shared and basic doctrines are taught. On Wednesday all the team taught on the Holy Spirit baptism. The crusade director said he had never seen so many people baptized in the Holy Ghost in a service. It was awesome. Wish you could have been there.
May 17, 2022 - Buriticupu Crusade
We arrived safely in Brazil and headed straight to the crusade city. Expecting great things.
May 16, 2022 - Cajun Country
It was wonderful to spend a day with Pastor J R Armstrong in Mauriceville, TX. Mauriceville is so close to Louisiana it is more Cajun than Texan. We had a great time of ministry and thank Pastor J R for the open door.
We were up early Monday morning, driving to Houston to catch our flight to Brazil.
April 11, 2022 - I Love History
I spent another day at the archives in Springfield MO, researching William Durham. I am thankful for my friends there that are always so helpful with my projects.
April 27, 2022 - Baton Rouge
Lynda and I love to attend the Campmeeting at Family Worship Center. It is great to connect with friends but most of all we enjoy hearing Brother Swaggart preach and sing. At 86 he is still the best.
April 9, 2022 - East Meets West
St Louis is known as the place where East meets West. There is even an arch over the Mississippi River to prove it. It was a great pleasure for us to be with Pastor John Rhodes and the great people at Messenger Church. I have known Brother Rhodes for many years but had never had the opportunity to preach for him. Great day, great church.
April 9, 2022 - Not Quite China
Summer and Quenn live in Iowa, Matthew and Matt live in Cape Girardeau, MO so we took an opportunity to meet somewhere near the middle. We ate at a Chinese buffet and then went to Dave and Busters for a fun day. We don't all get together nearly often enough.
April 5, 2022 - Deep in the Heart of Texas
Lynda and I had a great weekend with Pastor Jaunita Withem at Brazos Valley FWC. Sister Withem lost her loving husband and the church lost its pastor three years ago. I preached the funeral 3 years to the day of our service. We continue to pray for these fine people.
The church building has a very nice evangelist's apartment so I stayed in Bryan and worked while Lynda visited her kids and made some appointments in Houston.
April 1, 2022 - Charles F Parham
Release of my new book on Parham has been delayed until August. Whitaker asked me to write a new chapter. Between that, edits and additions to the book and Pentecostal Gold I have had my hand to the plow for several weeks.
March 28, 2022 - The Red River Valley
We spent our Sunday ministering at Lighthouse Church in Burkburnett,TX. We appreciate Pastors Bobby and Karen Scott for standing with us in our Harvest Revival Crusades.
March 23, 2022 - Elgin, OK
We enjoyed ministering at both services at Elgin First Assembly of God. Pastors Larry and Belinda Thoma are always kind to us. My brother, Dan and his wife Anita came over for Sunday night. Dan sang and we had a great time of fellowship together with Anita's brother and sister-in-law, Nicky and Iris Brown.
Last time we were here there were rumors of a Braums coming to Elgin. Now it is completed and open for business. Can anybody say "Sunday night ice cream?"
March 15, 2022 - The Church of the Cross
I have been a long time since I ministered at Central Assembly of God in Shreveport. Both the church and I had been through a lot. It was great to see that the new pastors, Jeff and Julie Gravis were doing such a fantastic job leading this great church.
March 8 2022 - Home Sweet Home
It is always a great pleasure to minister at our home church, Bethel Church in Duncan. We had two wonderful services. On Sunday night, we sang my sermon. I called a volunteer choir and we sung some of the old hymns and everyone was greatly blessed.
February 22, 2022 - Quannah, Texas
We enjoyed a good day with Pastors Jeremy and Sharilyn Walters at First Assembly in Quannah.
For those who don't know, the city is named after the famous Comanche Indian Chief Quannah Parker. Quannah had an Indian father and white mother. He was fluent in Indian dialects, English and Spanish. He led the Comanches in both war and peace.
February 18, 2022 - William H Durham
Lynda went to Houston this week to spend time with the grands and I headed for Springfield to do research. I am working on a new book on William H Durham, one of the Pentecostal pioneers. While I was there Darrin Rogers, the director of the Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center showed me a new addition to the archives--a book owned by William J Seymour. It was a blessing to hold it in my hands.
It was great to preach at Landmark Christian Center in Stafford, Missouri. Some of our dearest friends serve this church.
February 13, 2022 - Remember the Alamo
It was great being back in services with Pastor Dr. John Aniemeke at Bethel Covenant in San Antonio, the Alamo City. Dr. John has a great church and is also a periodontist and has successfully treated the infection I had in the bone of my mouth. We give thanks to God for him.
My brother Dan and his wife Anita went with us on the trip to San Antonio. On the way down we stopped for lunch with Dale and Jean Gentry, two dear friends.
January 26 , 2022 - COVID Part 2
Well, it seems we got more than a blessing at Acts 6:4. Lynda and I both came home with COVID. This was our second round of the nasty China Virus. We had checked our antibodies in July and they were super high so we thought we were protected. Not so much. We were layed up a few days but thank God we are both recovered.
January 7, 2022 - Acts 6:4
We started the New Year with a trip to Texarkana, Texas for the Acts 6:4 Conference. This meeting, filled with great preaching and singing, is a highlight of our year. Thank you Jason and Tosha Stidham for hosting this great meeting.
