Doc Martin's 2023 Blog

Start at the bottom of the page to begin with January and read through the year.

December 31, 2023 - Bryan,TX

We closed our year at Brazos Valley Family Worship Center in Bryan, Texas. We had a great service and a wonderful lunch with Pastor Juanita Withem and her family. We thank God for the faithful monthly missions support we receive from BVFWC.

December 25, 2023 -What a great day

Lynda and I celebrated our Lord's birthday at home. It was a quiet and peaceful holiday. Lynda recovered an office chair for me. Yes, I love paisley and yes, I am from the 1970s. It didn't compare, but I did bake her a coconut pie, her favorite.

December 17, 2023 - Merry Christmas

We love the Christmas season and thank God for the opportunity to fellowship with friends. We attended the OKAG Evangelist's Christmas luncheon and our sectional AG ministers dinner. We also set up our table and represented the ministry at the OKAG senior adult luncheon.

December 10, 2023 - Woodward, OK

This was our first time at First Assembly of God in Woodward. Pastor Brad Smith has also been a friend for many years. It was so great getting better acquainted with the Smiths and enjoying the great people of First Assembly. Thank God for his sweet presence.

December 3, 2023 - Lawton, OK

I have known Pastor Byron Elmore most of my life but this was our first time to preach at Calvary Assembly of God in Lawton. What a great time of ministry and fellowship with Pastor Elmore.

November 26, 2023 - Burkburnett, TX

We are always glad to return to Lighthouse Church in Burkburnett, TX. Pastor Bobby Scott and his congregation are faithful supporters or our Harvest Revival Crusades.

November 12, 2023 - Partner's Dinner

Our annual missions dinner was so much fun. We are so thankful to everyone who joined us to learn more about our campaigns in 2023 and support or future efforts. It was especially sweet because it was Lynda's birthday and we got to celebrate with cake.

October 30, 2023 - Back to Brazil

Because of the political situation in Brazil we had to cancel our 2022 campaign. We were so excited to go back to this great nation for two campaigns. The first meeting was in Bara de Corda and over 900 people accepted Christ as their savior. The second campaign was in Bacabal and over 1,000 were converted.

The work in Brazil is so productive. Our team ministers in many public schools, we have works training, a pastors meeting and a kids krusade. We also visit a poor neighborhood and give away tons of food. Thank you for helping us go to Brazil.

October 8, 2023 - NewSong

It was such a blessing to be back at NewSong Church of God in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Pastor Chuck Davis attended a church I pastored when he was a teen. He is so generous to our missions ministry. Thanks be to God.

September 29, 2023 - Mr. Cash

We didn't get to be in Iowa for Cash's birth but we got there as soon as we could. The little guy had some issues and had to spend several days in NICU but he is home now and a happy, healthy baby. Special thanks to everyone who prayed for Cash.

September 26, 2023 - We've got a new grand baby!

Summer gave birth to a beautiful baby boy today. We are so happy for her and Quenten. Welcome to the world Cash Edward Robert Wiedenhoff. We wanted so bad to be there but he came quite unexpectedly. We both came from Norway with a head cold and cough but can't wait to hold this little one.

September 24, 2023 - Stavanger, Norway

It had been 20 years since I preached in Stavanger. It was so good to see my former students--Sudip, Anne Lise and Selena and their families. What a wonderful group of friends.

September 23, 2023 - Association of Campaign Evangelists

One of the highlights of Lynda's and my year is the ACE conference. This year the meeting was held in beautiful Norway. These men and women are the most generous group of believers I have ever met. Some of them have had hundreds of campaigns and have led millions to Christ, yet it is hard to find even a hint of arrogance or narcissism among them.

September 11, 2023 - Chief Silvermoon

Sometimes God just gives us the desires of our heart.

Chief Silver Moon, as he was called, was a Caddo Indian artist. He was born in a teepee. Michael Martin (his real name) went to school with Jim Thorpe. He was a WWI veteran and played Indian roles in Hollywood. His profile was used for the old red Chief writing tablets. Most of all he was an artist. His paintings are in galleries and museums. Most are Indians or buffalo on velvet. Silver Moon lived just a few houses down from us when I was a kid. I graduated high school with his daughter. He never drove so he rode the bus around the country to paint and sell his art. Coming home he would walk by our house with a suitcase in one hand and his art in the other. We knew he was famous but as kids we weren't smart enough to really appreciate it. I have wanted one of his paintings for decades mainly just for the nostalgia. I search antique stores, art stores and online. I have found several but none I could really afford. Last Thursday night on a whim I searched marketplace and found this treasure. It was very affordable and best of all Lynda loves it.

September 10 , 2023 - Elgin, Ok

Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is. I'm not talking Alka Seltzer, I finished the rough draft of my Seymour book rewrite and sent it to Whitaker today. What a relief.

September 10, 2023 - Elgin, Ok

We were blessed to be back at the Assembly of God in Elgin, OK today. Pastors Larry and Belinda Thoma are wonderful friends and great pastors.

August 27, 2023 - Velma, Ok

It must have been fifty years since I preached at the Assembly of God in Velma. What a joy to be back at the church! Thank you pastor Travis Stewart for the hospitality.

August 6, 2023 - Montague, TX

Today we ministered in Montague, TX. My daddy was born here nearly 110 years ago. We had a great day with Pastor Billy Clayburn and the good folk at the Montague Holiness Church.

July 23, 2023 - William J. Seymour

We will spend a great deal of time this summer working on a rewrite of my biography of William J Seymour. I am happy to announce that Whitaker Publishing is going to release the book in February2024 in conjunction with Black History Month.

July 20, 2023 - Duncan, OK

Our home church is Bethel Assembly of God in Duncan. We were blessed this year to be home for our annual campmeeting and share the pulpit with some great preachers. Thanks Pastor Ron Meador for a great week!

July 16, 2023 - Marlow, OK

It was good to be back at First Assembly in Marlow, OK. Pastor Elwyn Rogers is always an excellent host and we always feel welcomed by the wonderful people in Marlow.

July 11, 2023 - Centerville, TX

Thanks to Pastor Gary Stutz for hosting us at Chapel of the Hills Assembly of God in Centerville, TX. Thank God for moving among us.

July 8, 2023 - LBJ

Lynda and I enjoy visiting presidential libraries. We have seen Reagan, Nixon and George HW Bush. Passing through San Antonio we decided to stop and see Lyndon Baines Johnson's library. Like all the rest, it was inspirational.

July 3, 2023 - More of the Good, Bad, Ugly and Hilarious

Our new book arrived today. So many people enjoyed my book of stories from my life and ministry that I have published a follow-up with More of the Good, Bad, Ugly and Hilarious. If you liked the first book you will love this one.

July 2, 2023 -Pentecostal Gold Sermon Archive

I spend more time than anyone can realize working on Pentecostal Gold. I feel it is probably my greatest gift to the kingdom of God. Hopefully when I am gone and my earthy ministry is complete this website will continue to minister to thousands. Today I hit another milestone. I wish there was time to celebrate but I need to edit another tape for Pentecostal Gold!!

June 30, 2023 - Summer Fun

Lynda's grands came for a short visit and we enjoyed a fun night at Kiddie Land. It is great to live in a family friendly small town.

June 28, 2023 -My Country 'Tis of Thee

Headed home from Amsterdam we had an overnight in Washington, DC. Lynda had never been to our nations capitol. We had a night tour of the beautiful city and saw all the great monuments dedicated to our national heroes. Abraham Lincoln has always been my favorite.

June 26, 2023 - Wooden Shoes and Windmills

While in the Netherlands we took an extra day to enjoy some of Holland's unique culture.

June 26, 2023 - Amsterdam

What a great conference in Amsterdam. Evangelists from more than 100 nations gathered to strategize on plans to reach the whole world for Christ. Let us join our hearts and join our efforts to reach the loss.

June 20, 2023 - Shamrocks and Such

We left home for a conference in Amsterdam and we had a long, long layover in Dublin, Ireland so we took the opportunity to catch a bus and look over the beautiful city.

June 9, 2023 - The Boyz

While we were in the area we drove over to Cape Girardeau to spend a couple days with my boys. Hard to imagine that Matthew will be 21 years old this year. Where does time go?

June 4, 2023 - Kensett, AR

Pastors Russell and Kim Merriman are such great friends and great hosts. It was so good to be back with the good people at Way of the Cross Church.

May 28, 2023 - Wynne, Arkansas

Pentecost Sunday is probably my favorite Sunday of the year. This year I spent it at Lighthouse in Wynne, Arkansas. Pastor Jenny Douglas always makes us feel at home and I always enjoy the sincerity of the good people at Lighthouse. I should also mention they are some of the best cooks in the world.

April 26, 2023 - AG Evangelist Summit

The annual gathering of Assemblies of God evangelists was held in Springfield again this year. Doug Clay, our General Superintendent always takes time to speak into the lives of the AG evangelists. I thank God for his leadership.

Tim Enloe does a great job as our National Evangelist Director. I am pictured with Tim and Glenn Ghor an archivist at the Flower Pentecostal Heritage Center. Both of these men have been tremendous encouragers to me.

May 16, 2023 - Around the World in a Daze and a Few Days

Lynda and I literally went all the way around the world to preach campaigns in Asia. We had free tickets to get us to Singapore so we flew from DFW to San Francisco to Singapore. This city/state is one of the most beautiful places in the world. We enjoyed several nights there as we traveled back and forth to our campaign destinations.

Our first campaign was in Bangladesh. We had a great time of ministry at the crusade and almost 300 came to Jesus.

It was also a joy to share the love of Jesus with the boys and girls in the children's home where we stayed. Jesus said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me."

Almost 300 came to Jesus in the campaign.

On the way back to Singapore we were able to spend one day and night in Bangkok, Thailand. You better believe I found a McDonalds.

Our next crusade was in Sri Lanka. What a beautiful country. There was much opposition to the campaign and we had to move the venue three times. The difficulties left us with a smaller than expected crowd but almost 100 received Christ for the first time.

Lynda got to ride an elephant but she didn't like it. We had to ride a bamboo raft to the crusade site and I didn't like it. Thank God, we both survived.

Traveling back to Singapore we had a day in Malaysia. We took a train ride into the city of Kuala Lumpur.

When we got back to Singapore we had a night to rest before heading for home. We had flown west from Dallas to Singapore and now we were flying west back to Dallas. We literally circled the entire globe. In all my travels I believe this was my first time to fly all the way around this "big blue marble." We spent one night in Frankfurt on the way home. In three weeks we conducted two harvest revival crusades and traveled in six countries.

April 26, 2023 - Oklahoma Distinct Council

We usually attend the Oklahoma District Council of the Assemblies of God and set up our resource table. 2023 was no exception. We enjoy seeing old friends and meeting new ones. This year the services were held at Crossroads. This great church was built by Daniel T. Shaeffer. You can listen to Pastor Shaeffer on Pentecostal Gold.

April 11, 2023 - Chickasha, OK

I have been preaching at Grand Assembly in Chickasha for nearly fifty years. I have preached during the tenure of at least five different pastors. Kevin Quinones, the current pastor asked us to come on a Wednesday night and we definitely enjoyed the good spirit in the church.

April 10, 2023 - Campmeeting

One of the highlights of our year is the Resurrection Camp Meeting at Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge. Brother Swaggart has always been my hero. We were also blessed by the ministry of Tim Hill the General Overseer for the Church of God. Of course, it is always nice to spend some time with our dear friends, Don and Donna Gray.

April 2, 2023 - Foley, AL

When I lived in Pensacola it was always a pleasure to be with Pastors Tommy and Samantha Howard at Family Revival Center in Foley, AL. Since we have moved so far away we don't get to visit so often but it is still a great joy. FRC is a faithful supporter of our Harvest Revival Crusades.

A special thank you to the church for supporting our missions ministry for many years.

April 1, 2023 - A Really Big Strawberry

Sometimes we break up a trip by stopping at thrift stores and antique stores. We love finding treasures to take home. You know what they say, "One man's trash is another man's treasure." We found more than we hoped for in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. When we got off the interstate we found ourselves in the annual strawberry festival.

March 29, 2023 - Burkburnett, TX

We always enjoy being with Pastor Bobby Scott at Lighthouse Assembly in Burk. This church faithfully supports our Harvest Revival Crusades.

March 15, 2023 - Southern California PCG

What an honor it was to be invited to speak the the annual convention for the Pentecostal Church of God. It was also such a blessing for Kelly Crabb and the Bowman Sisters providing music for the convention.

My dear friend Alan Greagrey has served the district as their secretary and treasury. He chose this convention to announce his retirement. Alan and Linda are moving to Texas. We wish these wonderful people the very best.

March 12, 2023 - Bakersfield, CA

Bakersfield is so un-California. We love this area. Of course there are lots of Okies here. This was our first time at New Covenant PCG. Pastor Doyle Hawkins treated us royally and God showed up in the services. We always give Him the glory.

March 5, 2023 - Tulsa, OK

We met Pastor James Abraham at the revival in Bixby. He is a pastor at a church plant in Tulsa. It was a joy to be with this new fellowship. Linda and David Dillon joined us and Linda blessed us with a special song. I remember Linda traveling and singing with her dad, Evangelist Charles Ogdon, when she was just a little girl.

February 28, 2023 - Duncan Lifestyles

The Bible says a prophet doesn't receive honor in his home but we were blessed to be featured in the Winter edition of Duncan Lifestyles magazine. They told our story and highlighted the work that we do.

February 26, 2023 - Greenville, TX

It is always a blessing to be in a place we have never been. This was our first time at First Assembly in Greenville. We had a great time. Pastor Brent Grissom's parents, Bennie and Mary attend church with us at Bethel in Duncan. At one point the Grissoms pastored Banner Assembly in Duncan and I have known and appreciated them for a very long time.

February 25, 2023 - The Texas State Aquarium

Being on the road constantly can be grueling so we like to take opportunities to stop and enjoy the journey. We had a free afternoon so we visited the Texas State Aquarium in Dallas. They have some beautiful birds, fish, flora and more. Lynda, however, was the prettiest thing there. I never cease to thank God for sending this lovely lady into my life.

February 19, 2023 - Elgin, OK

I was back in Elgin for Sunday services at First Assembly of God. Sorry, my traveling photographer was in Houston and I did not get a pic from the service. Imagine it any way you please. (smile)

February 10, 2023 - Bixby, OK

We started the month of February with a six-night revival at First AG in Bixby, OK. It had been a while since we had been invited to preach a full week of revival. God blessed us and the church in wonderful ways. Our life-time friends David and Linda Dillon are the pastors and very kind hosts.

The Dillons have supported our missions ministry for decades. Eternity will tell how many souls their generosity has won to the Lord.

While in the area we got visit with some of Missionary Evangelist friends, Stefanie and Rubens Cunha and Daniel King. We love this soldiers of the cross. They have won millions to Christ.

Since I missed my Sectional Council at home, Pastor Dillon and I went to the council in Section 1. I give honor to my District Superintendent, Dr. Darryl Wootton.

January 31, 2023 - Homework

It was good to be close to home in January. I have end of the year bookkeeping and contribution receipts to get in the mail. I have also been working on a follow-up to my book The Good, The Bad, The Ugly and The Hilarious. So many people have enjoyed the book I am doing a sequel. It should be available in March.

January 26, 2023 - A House of Prayer

I was honored to be part of the lead team for the soft launch of the Global Prayer Center in Springfield, MO. At the same time I was quite humbled. The AG have built this center as a place to pray for revival. There is a huge screen imbedded in the floor and connected to Google Earth. You can stand on the floor and pray for any location in the world. It is awesome.

I am thankful that Director Joe Oden invited me and was so glad to meet some new people of God and be with several friends long-time friends.

January 21, 2023 - Don't let the River flow!

It was quite a surprise when we woke up this morning to find our floors covered in water. A hose popped loose on our water filter and was spewing like Niagara. Fortunately we were home and fortunately it was not running long. Unfortunately part of our hard wood floors are going to have to be replaced and all of them refinished. Please pray we will find the right craftsmen and for favor with the insurance.

We love the River of God but did not embrace this river.

January 16, 2023 - Look What's New

Our new T-shirts celebrate William Seymour of the Azusa Street Revival. You can order one through our website by clicking this link - T-shirt.

January 10, 2023 - Acts 6:4

We try to start every year at the Acts 6:4 Conference in Texarkana, TX. Our good friends Jason and Tosha Stidham host this great event and it is such a blessing. The services are always filled with anointed worship and Pentecostal preaching. The conference is not only a place to get our batteries charged for a new year, it also gives us the opportunity to connect with friends.
